Testing for new electric lap record
Lap records for electric cars at the Nürburgring Nordschleife are starting to heat up. The current record holder is Peugeot's EX1 Concept with 9 minutes and 1.338 seconds. Now Cologne based electric car manufacturer E-Wolf has been spotted by spy photographers at the Green Hell with their ALPHA 1 SRF (Silent Radical Force).
First announced last September, the Alpha 1 uses Li-Ion flat cells weighing 350 kg (772 lbs) and making 41.5 kWh to power two high performance electric motors which produce 380 PS (280 kW / 375 bhp) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque.
Utilizing the body of a Radical SR8, the Alpha 1 hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.9 seconds, reaches a top speed of 230 km/h (143 mph) and has a curb vehicle weight of 970 kg (2138 lbs). NEDC driving range is 300 km (186 mi) following an 8 hour charge. However, at a constant 50 km/h the range increases to 400 km (249 mi).
According to our spy, the driver was Jochen Krumbach, a well known Porsche driver in the VLN long distance races on the Nürburgring. We presume the EX1 lap record will fall before the end of the week.
e-Wolf is pricing the Alpha 1 SRF at €215,000 plus VAT making it purely a toy for the green racer.
