2013 Porsche Cayman spied at the Nürburgring

    arger, lighter and more powerful

Our spies have caught the 2013 Porsche Cayman on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
The prototype is heavily camouflaged, but we can see the model will have an evolutionary design that is instantly recognizable. While the front end looks similar to recent 911 prototypes, sources have indicated the Boxster and Cayman will be distinguished by unique lighting units and a steeper windscreen. Additionally, the redesigned Cayman adopts door-mounted mirrors, a larger rear window and a new side air intake.
Engine options are still shrouded in mystery, but we can expect the current mills to carryover with minor improvements for added performance. Nothing is official, but previous reports have indicated the 2.9-liter will produce 265 hp (198 kW / 269 PS) and 280 Nm (206 lb-ft), while the 3.4-liter will develop 315 hp (235 kW / 319 PS) and 360 Nm (266 lb-ft) of torque. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder is also expected, and it may eventually replace the 2.9-liter flat-six.
No word on when the model will be introduced, but guesstimates peg a release for late 2012 or early 2013.
